REMOVING INFLAMMATORY TOXINS ( Part 1 )

Hello SariMellman.com fans:

Our first post and priority for this new year is about inflammatory toxins that you should be aware of (aside from food structures).  Specifically, plastics and and our water/meats/and other products exposure to them and the immune stress it creates.  We wonder why our scales at home jump high when we are not on our super foods. Is it just the foods we went off with, or is it more? Lets take a look at the three most toxic plastic on the market. We will also go over some healthier alternatives, suggestions, and even include a PDF document you can download to read for yourself.  All plastics use an identification # to help us consumers pick and choose the safer ones.

First #3 Plastic: POLYVINYL CHLORIDE (V OR PVC)
This is found in plastic cooking-oil containers/bottles, plumping pipes, the clear wrap around our deli meats, cheeses and even our cooking meats.  Known to contain Hormone-disrupting phthalates and disease causing dioxins which leach there dangerous chemical when exposed to heat.  Lets try storing our food in glass first and ceramic bowls second. Also, never microwave with plastic, (Microwave's will be an entire blog topic on its own and coming soon). Try using parchment paper or wax as alternatives.

Second #6 Plastic: POLYSTRENE AKA STYROFOAM
Now this is MAJOR!!!! We find these toxic stressors in disposable coffee cups, take home containers from restaurants, foam egg cartons, and meat trays.  We should think again before asking them to put our hot  leftovers in a one of these containers.  These leach as well when exposed to heat.

Third #7 Plastic: POLYCARBONATE (PC)
These unhealthy plastics are found in baby bottles, microwave ovenware, eating utensils etc...These leaching chemicals have (BPA) bisphenol A which has been reported to have a HUGE impact on young girls reaching puberty early due to its hormone disrupting capacities.  Remember to rinse all canned foods thoroughly and again switch to glass.

{IMPORTANT} Never expose any plastic to heat if at all possible.  As your super foods help flush inflammatory byproducts, these can still add to the mess and interrupt our immune systems communication.  Begin to make the conversion over to glass, even with your travel dishes. Pyrex is a safe alternative.  A website to review safe and less safe "Notice we did not say healthier" national brands please refer to  ( www.checnet.org/healtheHouse/pdf/plasticchart.pdf )

There is one plastic that is known to be safer than the other's and this is #7 PLA for POLYACTIDE.
It is made from corn, potatoes, sugar, and or other plant based starch. They are fully compostable. The #'s are found at the bottom of your plastic containers.
